Early 2019, eight Volvo FMX 10x6 tippers, a water truck and a service truck were delivered on site to Wahgnion Gold Corporation, Burkina Faso. The tippers will be used for both in-pit (surface pit) as long distance haulage (6 – 25 kilometers) of gold ore. Later this year, the second batch of vehicles will be delivered.
BAS Mining Trucks has delivered a start package with parts & components. Repair and maintenance will be carried out on site by local mechanics. A trainer of BAS Mining Trucks has joined the team of mechanics for two weeks to provide them training on the job. Some of them are trained to become “mentors”, so that they can transfer their knowledge to other mechanics. To learn how to drive safely and sustainably with these 50-tonnes payload trucks, the truck drivers also received training: a theoretical training in a classroom and half a day 1 on 1 practical training.
Wahgnion Gold Operations (WGO) is located in Burkina Faso. The process plant is located adjacent to the Nogbele deposit, which contains approximately 50% of the reserves. The Fourkoura, Stinger, and Samavogo deposits are located 6, 15, and 25 kilometers, respectively, from the process plant. Throughput is expected to range between 2.2 and 2.5 million tonnes per annum, depending on the blend of soft and hard ore.
Wahgnion Gold Corporation has expressed its trust in BAS Mining Trucks by already placing a second order containing 10 BAS Mining 10×6 tippers, 1 service truck and 1 water truck. This second batch will be delivered later in 2019, when production has increased.
