November 2018, eight Volvo FMX 10x6 tippers arrived at the Fruta del Norte project in Ecuador. The trucks will be used for infrastructural activities (construction of dams) and for the transport of raw material for the cement factory. Currently, a trainer from BAS Mining Trucks is on site to train local mechanics and drivers.
Repair and maintenance will be carried out on site by Macasa, official distributor of Volvo Trucks and commercial agent of BAS Mining Trucks in Ecuador. To learn how to drive safely and sustainably with these 50-tonnes payload trucks, the truck drivers will get half a day theory training in a classroom and half a day 1 on 1 practical training. The BAS Mining Trucks trainer will join the team of mechanics for two weeks to provide them training on the job. There will be two training periods: first time when delivering the trucks and second time when first service has to be carried out.
